Oracle compra Sun

Alberto Barrionuevo ha enviado a la lista de Asolif el enlace a la noticia de que Oracle ha acordado comprar Sun por 5.600 millones de dólares.
Tras el fallido intento de adquisición por parte de IBM especulábamos si el comprador de Sun sería HP o incluso Cisco. Pero creo que nunca llegamos a barajar la posibilidad de que el monstruo fagocitario más voraz del software privativo engullese con sus típicas tácticas de venta por dominio a la empresa que controla piezas clave del Software Libre como Java, OpenOffice y MySQL.
Oracle ya había comprado InnoDB, el motor transaccional de MySQL, en 2005.
Probablemente el siguiente paso de Oracle sea comprar también Red Hat y ofrecer appliances de hardware + sistema operativo + base de datos + aplicaciones.
